With Summer just around the corner, we have been reminded of how refreshing kombucha can be.  We stock the delicious Remedy Kombucha in our cafe fridge which is ready to serve, but we want to teach you how to make your own kombucha at home and of course, there are lots of questions...

This Summer we will once again be running our Fun Flavours with Kombucha Workshops with the amazing Briony Kean.  These classes have been extremely popular and a wealth of information for anyone starting out or just curious about how to put the fizzy in this extremely healthy drink.

Our workshops are packed full of information, there is lots of chatting about your SCOBY, how to look after it, how to go from the first ferment to the second, how much to drink, what flavours to introduce, how to "Hotel" your SCOBY, storage vessels etc.  Briony is fantastic as she shares her own personal stories of her homebrew.

There is also a lot of hands-on experimenting as you get the opportunity to try different flavours and create your own blend.

At the end of the class, everyone goes home with a jar of first ferment kombucha (with SCOBY) and a second ferment with fruit flavours of your choice.  There is also a great hand out for quick reference and troubleshooting to get you started at home.

The MFWF started in 1993 with a modest program of 12 events dreamt up by Peter Clemenger AM AO.  Today it’s an annual state-wide celebration with over 250 events across Victoria, of which Heart of Hall is one!

Wednesday, Feb 06 2019

This year will be the first time the team at Heart of Hall get to participate in the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, with owners Stacey Krbaleski and Nicole Walker eagerly looking forward to being part of 2019 lineup: “We just missed out on applying for last year’s festival with our doors opening late January; there just wasn’t time to submit a concept. But now with a year of classes under our belt and a strong community following, we are so excited to contribute to this year’s program.”
